SANGSAD BHABAN: Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar told the parliament that the government has taken steps to realize Tk 15160 crore dues as revenue from the country’s private mobile phone operators.
The minister said this while responding to a starred question placed by treasury bench lawmaker Benjir Ahmed of Dhaka-20 in the House with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair on Sunday (April 28).
He said the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) regularly audits the activities of mobile phone operators. Already audit activities have been done with Grameenphone and Robi Axiata Limited.
BTRC closed down Citycell operation because it did not pay due money to the government, he said.
