 Stocks downbeat in early hours

DHAKA: Trading on the country’s two bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- is underway with downward trend of share-price indices on Monday (April 28).

Within first two hours of trading, the key index of the country's major bourse declined 58.46 points while the Selective Category Index of the port city bourse lost 147.45points.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 58.46 points or 1.11 percent to 5,179.73 points at 12:13pm.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 9.3 points or 0.77 percent to stand at 1,199.88 points.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, shed over 22.53 points or 1.21 percent to reach at 1833.38 points.

Turnover stands at Tk 1,380.24 million on the DSE, riding on United Power Generation and Distributions Ltd and National Tubes Ltd. 

Fortune Shoes Industries Ltd dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 63.69 million changing hands till then followed by Genex Infosys and Monno Ceramics.

Of the issues traded till then, 85 advanced, 200 declined and 49 issues remained unchanged. 

However, the port city bourse, the CSE, saw negative trend till then with its Selective Category Index - CSCX – declining 147.45 points or 0.91 percent to stand at 15,905.19 also at 12:09 pm.

Out of 155 issues traded, 26 gained, 109 declined and 20 remained unchanged with shares worth Tk 34.76 million traded.
