DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said no chemical godowns will exist in old parts of Dhaka and all the chemical godowns will be set up in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj under BSCIC Chemical Industrial Park Project.
The premier issued the order in ECNEC (Executive Committee of the National Economic Council) meeting held at NEC Conference Room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar of Dhaka Tuesday (April 30).
The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the ECNEC chairperson.
In the meeting, BSCIC Chemical Industrial Park-Munshiganj Project was approved with Tk 615 crore.
The industrial park will be set up on some 310 acres of land in Sirajdikhan. It will accommodate some 2,154 Industrial plots.
The park is expected to create some 50,000 employment opportunities.
"Only the people having chemical business in various parts of the country including Old Dhaka will be allotted lands in the project," said Sheikh Hasina.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Planning Minister MA Mannan, Agriculture Minister Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Health Minister Zahid Malek, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Environment Minister Md Shahab Uddin and Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, among others, were present.
