DHAKA: Trading on the country’s two bourses - Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - is underway with downward trends of share-price indices on Tuesday (May 7).
Within first one and a half hour of the day’s trading, the benchmark index of the DSE went down by 31.80 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 35.63 points.
DSEX, the Broad Index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), shed over 31.80 points or 0.59 percent to stand at 5,310.27 at 11:59am.
The two other indices also edged lower.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 4.57 points or 0.37 percent to stand at 1,229.06 points.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips declined 13.93 points or 0.74 percent to stand at 1867.27 points.
Trade deals stood at 56,341 shares to stand at Tk 2177.30 million on the DSE, riding on Fortune Shoes and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
Of the issues traded, 86 advanced, 195 declined and 51 remained unchanged.
Fortune shoes Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 232.32 million having changed hands followed by Bangladesh Shipping Corporation and Power Grid Company of Bangladesh.
Following the suit, the Chittagong Stock Exchange Selective Categories Index (CSCX) climbed down to 16,359 by losing over 35.63 points or 0.21 percent at about 11:59am.
Out of 153 issues traded, 55 gained, 78 declined and 20 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 116.76 million.
