DHAKA: Trading on the country’s two bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- is underway with downward trends of share-price indices in the early hours on Tuesday (May 21).
Within first two hours of the day’s trading, the benchmark index of the DSE went down by 46.87 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 95.93 points.
DSEX, the Broad Index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), shed over 46.87 points or 0.88 percent to stand at 5,229 at 11:49am.
The two other indices also edged lower.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 5.74 points or 0.47 percent to stand at 1,193 points.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips declined 11.74 points or 0.64 percent to stand at 1821.62.
Trade deals stood at 43,598 shares to stand at Tk 1,512.76 million on the DSE, riding on Runner Automobiles Limited and SK Trims & Industries.
Of the issues traded, 63 advanced, 215 declined and 51 remained unchanged.
Runner Automobiles Limited topped the turnover list with shares worth TK 305.87 million having changed hands followed by SK Trims & Industries and Eastern cables.
Following the suit, the Chittagong Stock Exchange Selective Categories Index (CSCX) climbed down to 16,007 by losing over 95.93 points or 0.59 percent at about 11:49am.
Of the 169 issues traded, 40 advanced, 109 declined and 20 remained unchanged with shares worth Tk 244.20 million traded.
