DHAKA: Country’s both bourses closed in negative note on Thursday (May 23) as low confident investors refrained from putting fresh fund amid ongoing bearish trend in the market.
The index heavily fluctuated through out the trading session today. Market showed upward movement several times and lost momentum every time within few minutes.
At the close of day’s trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse went down by 0.34 points or 0.006 percent to reach 5,250.59.
Two other indices also ended lower. The DSE Shariah Index saw loss of 3.64 point or 0.30 percent to close at 1,192.89.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also shed over 2.49 points or 0.13 percent to finish at 1,832.81.
Losers beat gainers with 164 losers, 129 gainers while 47 remained unchanged.
Moreover, the market turnover closed at Tk 3194.88 million on the day.
Top gainers at DSE were PREMIERLEA, VAMLBDMF1, GLOBALINS, MIDASFIN and FASFIN while Top losers were UCB, STANDARINS, RUNNERAUTO, SIBL and ICBAMCL2ND.
“At the end of the day, the index closed red at 5,250.60 levels with 0.01% decrease from the previous day. All the large cap sectors except Fuel & Power and NBFI showed negative movements”, said LankaBangla Securities in its daily market analysis.
Prime finance and investment Limited topped the turnover leaders with 20.65 lakh shares worth Tk 221.27 million traded, followed by BRAC Bank and Runner Automobiles.
The CSE overall share index, CASPI also lost 1.75 points or 0.01 percent to reach 16,041 points at the close today.
Of the 244 issues traded, 96 advanced, 112 suffered loss and 36 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 182.36 million.
