DHAKA: Stocks rebound Tuesday (May 28) as all indices of the country’s two bourses-Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) were in green zone with active participation of investors.
However, the turnover in DSE, the important indicator of the market, increased to Tk 4031.33 million from the Monday’s Tk 3514.40 million.
DSEX, the key index of DSE, gained 75.21 points or 1.43 percent to settle at 5,328.76 points.
However, two other indices followed the same trend.
Shariah index-DSES gained 18.74 points or 1.57 percent to close at 1207.83 points while DS-30 advanced 33.06 points or 1.80 percent to settle at 1,861.37.
Gainers dominated the day’s trading on DSE as out of a total 349 traded issues, 225 gained against 70 losing securities and 54 unchanged.
Top five gainers were NEWLINE, GLOBALINS, BATBC, JMISMDL and SHEPHERD while the top five losers were SONARBAINS, VAMLBDMF1, EASTERNINS, MEGCONMILK and RUPALILIFE.
In the port city Chattogram, the CSE ended higher with its All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 242.91 points or 1.51 percent to close at 16,260.42.
The gainers beat the losers as 158 issues closed up against 47 losing issues and 40 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 75.19 lakh shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 411.22 million in turnover.
