DHAKA: Country’s both bourses closed in negative note on Sunday (June 16) as profit booking tendency has been displayed by the investors.
At the close of day’s trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse went down by 43.47 points or 0.79 percent to reach 5430.83.
Two other indices also ended lower. The DSE Shariah Index saw loss of 8.65 point or 0.69 percent to close at 1235.40.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also shed over 13.64 points or 0.71percent to finish at 1905.
Losers beat gainers with 98 losers, 201 gainers while 50 remained unchanged.
Shares worth Tk 5343 million changed hands at the DSE on the first trading session of this week.
“Market started with upbeat session but did not sustain as investors adopted cautious stance following lack of confidence arose by investors’ expectation that failed to meet the national budget declaration of FY’20”, said EBL Securities in its daily market analysis.
JMI Syringes and Medical Devices Ltd topped the turnover leaders with shares worth Tk 232.44 million traded followed by United Power Generation and Distribution Company Limited and Eastern Housing Ltd.
Top gainers at DSE were NORTHRNINS, -GLOBALINS, SONALIANSH, BDAUTOCA and RNSPIN while top losers at CSE were BAYLEASING, SEMLFBSLGF, VAMLBDMF EMERALDOIL and PRAGATILIF.
The CSE overall share index, CASPI also lost 140.00 points or 0.83 percent to reach 16,624 points at the close today.
Of the 268 issues traded, 73 advanced, 170 suffered loss and 25 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 292.58 million.
