DHAKA: Stocks rebounded on Tuesday (June 18) after losing streak for the second successive sessions as optimistic investors spurred their buoyancy in sector specific stocks.
DSE turnover has reached Tk 5,288.29 million changed hands, a mentionable decrease from Monday’s turnover at Tk 5352.78 million.
DSEX, the DSE benchmark index, gained 24.94 points, or 0.46 per cent, to reach 5400 at the close of day’s trading.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 8.29 points or 0.67 per cent to close at 1232.
The DS30 comprising blue chips rose over 5.71 points or 0.30 per cent to close at 1895 points.
Of the issues traded, 196 gained, 105 declined and 48 remained unchanged.
“The core index kept rising throughout the day with some volatility in the middle session of the day as investors are active in buying shares on undervalued stocks,” said eblsecurites, in its daily analysis.
Eastern Insurance Company Ltd topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 183.28 million followed by Nurani Dyeing and Sweater Ltd and JMI Syringes and Medical Devices Ltd.
The day’s top five gainers at the DSE were EASTERNINS, NURANI, ZAHINTEX, MIDASFIN and MALEKSPIN while top five losers at the DSE were PRAGATIINS, SEMLFBSLGF, ZEALBANGLA, DACCADYE and BEACHHATCH
The CSE key index, CSCX, also went up by 86.48 points or 0.52 percent to reach 16,575 at the close today.
Of the 259 issues traded, 155 advanced, 69 suffered loss and 35 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 424.20 million on Tuesday.
