DHAKA: Trading on the country’s two bourses - Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - is underway with downward trends of share-price indices on Sunday (June 23).
Within first one and a half hour of the day’s trading, the benchmark index of the DSE went down by 17.75 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 33.81 points.
DSEX, the Broad Index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), shed over 17.75 points or 0.32 percent to stand at 5,377.86 at 12:08pm.
The two other indices also edged lower.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 1.98 points or 0.16 percent to stand at 1231.29 points.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips declined 2.66 points or 2.66 percent to stand at 1891.73 points.
Trade deals stood at 36,567 shares to stand at Tk 1,233.09 million on the DSE, riding on Fortune Shoes and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
Of the issues traded, 60 advanced, 216 declined and 61 remained unchanged.
United Power Generation and Distribution Company Ltd topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 97:52 million having changed hands followed by Eastern Insurance Ltd and Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Following the suit, the Chittagong Stock Exchange Selective Categories Index (CSCX) climbed down to 16,489 by losing over 33.81 points or 0.20 percent at about 12:09pm.
Out of 179 issues traded, 35 gained, 124 declined and 20 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 222.57 million.
