DHAKA: The Value Added Tax (VAT) Act will be implemented for transmission and digital services of radio and satellite television channels in Bangladesh from next Monday (July 1).
National Board of Revenue (NBR) issued a directive in this regard on Wednesday (June 26).
According to the directive, VAT and Supplementary Duty Act 2012 on digital services will be applicable from July 1.
NBR, through its directive, asked satellite channels to appoint VAT agents in Bangladesh and VAT on advertisement revenue to the government.
The NBR requested the authorities concerned to ask all the non-resident firms to get VAT registration.
Electronic service providers namely Facebook, Google, Youtube, and Messenger will also be under its purview.
It is further said that according to the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act-2012, every non-resident firm has to appoint a VAT agent.
