DHAKA: The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed downward trends in early hours of trading on Tuesday (July 2) as watchful investors were on selling spree.
After one and half hours trading, the key index of the country’s major bourse shed over 40.93 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 93.57 points.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE went down by 40.93 points or 0.75 percent to stand at 5,380.69 points at 12:16pm.
The two other indices also saw negative trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also decreased by 20.87 points or 1.08 percent to stand at 1,908.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 12.16 points or 0.97 percent to reach at 1232.52 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at Tk 1,790.41 million on the DSE, riding on Fu Wang Food and Unique Hotel & Resorts.
Runner Automobiles Ltd dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 127.72 million changing hands till then, closely followed by United Power Generation and Distribution Ltd and National Polymer Industries Ltd.
Of the issues traded till then, 124 advanced, 156 declined and 61 issues remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also saw negative trend till then with its Overall Share Index – CASPI – losing 93.57 points or 0.56 percent to stand at 16,540.63 also at 12:10pm.
Of the 206 issues traded till then, 80 gained, 87 declined and 39 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 210.56 million.
