DHAKA: State Minister for Labour and Employment Monnujan Sufian directed Grameenphone Ltd to increase salary of its workers apart from reinstating others discharged earlier from their duties.
She issued the order in a meeting chaired by her, in presence of Labour secretary KM Azam Ali Wednesday (July 3).
Allegations have been raised that Grameenphone stopped yearly increment of around 700 workers since 2014 and appointed new workers illegally dropping 126 old workers.
Moreover, 38 workers of GP warehouse weren't paid salaries of two months and eight days, without any valid reason.
In a meeting in May, Monnujan Sufian asked the telecom operator to implement four instructions within 15 days regarding pay of dues salaries, increment and employment, said the ministry's public relations officer.
