DHAKA: Stocks ended lower on the bourses Tuesday (July 9), the thrid trading session of the week, with turnover increased from the previous session.
DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 38.57 points or 0.72 per cent to close at 5,280.
The two other indices also edged lower.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also declined 8.74 points or 0.71per cent to close at 1,207.
The DS30 comprising blue chips shed over 10.64 points or 0.56 per cent to close at 1,875 points.
Turnover at the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the main bourse of the country, has reached at Tk 5,129 million today, marking a significant increase from previous session’s Tk 4,246.60 million on Monday (July 8).
Of the issues traded on the DSE, 86 advanced, 142 declined and 24 remained unchanged.
Non-banking financial sector gathered the highest turnover worth of Tk 483.60 million which was 21.09 per cent of total turnover.
Runner Automobiles Limited was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 189.75 million changing hands followed by Asian Tiger Sandhani Life Growth Fund and National Life Insurance Company Ltd.
Top five gainers at DSE were EXIM1STMF, RELIANCE1, CAPMIBBLMF, SEMLFBSLGF and SEMLIBBLSF while top five losers at DSE were PLFSL, GLOBALINS, RNSPIN, RUNNERAUTO and MONNOCERA
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed lower with the Selective Categories Index of the CSE gained 90.25 points or 0.55 percent to close at 16,200 points.
Of the 276 issues traded on the DSE, 74 advanced, 181 declined and 21 remained unchanged on the port city bourse that traded 78.17 million share and mutual fund units, generating turnover of Tk 195.10 million.
