DHAKA: The government has announced the prices of different types of rawhides from animals sacrificed during Eid-ul-Azha, fixing the highest price of cowhides at Tk 45-50 in Dhaka and at Tk 35-40 for outside capital.
Commerce minister Tipu Munshi announced the prices of rawhides after a meeting with leather sector stakeholders at his secretariat office in the city on Tuesday (August 6).
As per the government decision, tanners would buy per square foot salted skin of goats across at Tk 18-20 while price of salted skin un-castrated goat has been fixed at Tk 13-15.
Tanners collected cowhide Tk 74-75 in 2014 while Tk 50 in 2015 and Tk 50-55 and at Tk 50-55 in Dhaka and 40-45 from outside of Dhaka in 2018.
Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods and Footwear Exporters’ Association , Bangladesh Tanners Association, and Bangladesh Hide and Skin Merchants Association leaders were present at the meeting.
