DHAKA: Price of onion has lowered quickly due to rise of daily import from Myanmar, Egypt and Turkey, said Commerce Secretary Dr. Md. Jafar Uddin.
“There is no shortage of onion in the market. Consumers should not panic,” Dr. Md. Jafar Uddin said while discussing the market situation with the importers, retailers and traders at the ministry’s conference room on Monday (September 23).
“The volume of import increases at each day. Price will come down shortly,” he said.
The price of this commodity rose in Bangladesh, because our neighboring country India set Minimum Export Price (MEP) at per metric tonnes of onion.
