DHAKA: The Bangladesh Bank is set to release a new Tk 50 note on December 15.
Abul Kalam Azad, General Manager of Department of Communications and Publications of Bangladesh Bank (Assistant spokesperson) told Banglanews that the new note will be released as there is similarity in colour between the existing Tk 10 and Tk 50 notes.
BB also issued a press release in this regard.
The central bank has already printed the new bank note, which is signed by BB governor Fazle Kabir, and the note contains the portrait of the country’s founding president, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in reddish orange colour, the release said.
The note will be issued initially by the BB’s Motijheel office and later by other branches of the central bank.
However, the new note contains the same design and security features the previously issued Tk 50 note has.
According to the BB, the existing Tk 50 bank notes will remain valid simultaneously.
