SANGSAD BHABAN: Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque assured the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) that the onion price would come down because India withdrew its ban upon onion import.
Besides, the country is expecting a bumper onion production in current robi season, he also said.
Agriculture Minister said: “We expect that about 23 to 24 lakh metric tonnes onion will be produced this season.”
Razzaque was replying to a supplementary question made by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal lawmaker Shirin Akhter in the House with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair on Thursday (January 16).
“So, the onion price will never stay at Taka 110 in any condition. I am confident that the onion price will come down to a tolerable level soon,” he said.
