DHAKA: All markets, super shops, shopping malls and retail shops across the country will remain closed until April 4, as the duration has been extended for four more days.
Bangladesh Shop Owners Association took the decision as a precautionary measure to contain coronavirus infection in the country, said a press release signed by its Secretary General Zahirul Haque Bhuiyan on Sunday (March 29).
Earlier on March 22, the association decided to remain markets and super markets from March 25 to 31.
However, the vegetable shops/markets, shops of essential commodities and medicine shops will remain open during this time.
In Bangladesh, 48 people have been infected, five people died and 15 people recovered in the disease.
The global death toll of coronavirus reached 31,068 till Sunday afternoon (Bangladesh Time: 4 pm). A total of 669,080 people have been infected while 143,119 recovered worldwide in the deadly disease, worldometer reports.
