A 22-day ban on catching, selling, hoarding and transporting Hilsa comes to an end on Wednesday.
The restriction that came into effect on October 13 midnight across the country in a bid to ensure smooth breeding during the peak season, will end at 12:00pm on Wednesday.
The government has been taking this initiative for the last few years.
During this ban, fishing, selling, marketing, storage and transportation of Hilsa are strictly prohibited. If anyone violates the rule, he/she will be fined or imprisoned as per the provisions.
Various initiatives were taken this time to make the ban effective. Besides, fishermen were given assistances.
