The National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem said the income tax return filing deadline would not be extended beyond November 30.
He was briefing the press at the NBR headquarters on Sunday on the occasion of monthly tax service and observing the National Income Tax Day 2020 on November 30.
The NBR chief said: "The deadline for return submission is November 30. If some taxpayers miss the submission deadline, they can file application with their concerned tax offices and submit the returns with two percent fine."
"However, the fine is not mandatory for all and can be waived if taxpayer can show valid reason for the delay," he said.
Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) holders must submit their returns in due time, otherwise penalty will be imposed, Abu Hena said.
He also said a total of 13,20,000 returns have been submitted to NBR as off November 26 while Tk 2,387 crore tax has been paid.
