Online communications platforms are increasingly confronting the threats of user data theft and information leakage. In order to eliminate a crucial vulnerability, imo, one of the world’s largest instant communication platforms, has introduced a new phone number verification system to protect user information when users switch mobile phone numbers.

This enhanced protection level will bring a sense of relief to Bangladeshi users, who are increasingly concerned over the security issue of their personal information when they change mobile phone numbers, said a press release sent by IMO.

When a phone number has not been used for one to two years, telecom operators will recycle the number and reassign it to a new user. Previously, when a new user sets up an imo account with a recycled number, the new user would be able to access the previous user’s data as the accounts are synchronized. 

This is a common problem facing users of many instant communication apps worldwide. In order to solve this issue, imo has introduced a new phone number verification system to secure user accounts and protect their privacy.

If an imo account is inactive for a certain period of time, the associated mobile number for the account will be automatically unregistered. When a mobile number is recycled by a telecom operator and reassigned to a new user, the new user can register an imo account without risk of revealing their personal information to other people or accessing the personal information of the previous phone number user.

If an imo associated phone number doesn’t match with a device’s phone number, imo will advise users to change their number to the current one.

imo has also introduced a new method to protect the account security and privacy of existing users. Through its comprehensive security technology, imo can detect if a phone number is aligned with the imo user’s associated phone number. If they are not, users will be prompted in the app to change to the current mobile number.

With this enhanced phone number verification system, imo is better able to ensure the privacy of its users around the world. And Bangladeshi users can now experience a safer and more comfortable way of connecting to the world through imo without compromising their privacy and user data.
