India has withdrawn its ban on onion export. 

The move came more than three months after India imposed abrupt export ban on the cooking ingredient which led the onion prices to soar in neighboring Bangladesh.

India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced the decision on Monday.

The order will come into effect from January 1, 2021. Bangladesh will resume import through Hili land port in Dinajpur.

The prices of onion jumped through roof in Bangladesh after India banned export on September 14 due to stock shortage and price hike in that country.
