Bashundhara Group, the largest industrial conglomerate of the country, has got the ‘Intellectual Property Protection Award’.
Bangladesh Copyright Office under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs has recognised the business group for registering highest intellectual property in business and corporate sector in 2020.
It made the formal announcement of the honour at a virtual seminar arranged marking the International Copyright Day on Friday.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid attended the function as the chief guest. Company Secretary M Nasimul Hai took part in the programme on behalf of Bashundhara Group.
Bashundhara Group has obtained this award as the business group has understood the importance of intellectual property protection and played a significant role to develop awareness in this regard.
According to Bangladesh Copyright Office, copyright registration is crucial in intellectual property protection but people who are involved in such work are not much interested to collect copyright registration certificate.
Especially, people related to education and research sector, scholars, famous artistes and authors, and others who do creative work are not seen protecting their intellectual rights by completing copyright registration.
Therefore, Bangladesh Copyright Office has been organising seminars and symposiums to make them aware of this.
As part of this awareness campaign, the copyright office began providing ‘Intellectual Property Protection Award’ since 2018.
