Finance Minister leaves Dhaka for Geneva

Finance Minister of Bangladesh AHM Mustafa Kamal on Saturday left Dhaka for Geneva to attend the Asia-Pacific Regional Review Meeting on the implementation of IPoA in preparation for the 5th UN Conference on the LDC (UNLDC-5). 

The regional review meeting will be held on August 30 to September 2 in Geneva where the minister would highlight various steps of the government for smooth graduation of Bangladesh from the LDCs, said a Finance Ministry press release.

The release said the meeting would discuss the possibility of holding a meeting of 12 LDC countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Besides, the other international communities would evaluate their development goals in a holistic manner side by side hold discussions on how the countries would be able to return back to the development path following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the United Nations and Bangladesh have convened a Asia-Pacific Ocean Region Review meeting on January 23 to 27, 2022 in Doha in preparation for the 5th UN Conference on the LDC (UNLDC-5).
