The High Court (HC) has constituted a five-member board headed by former Appellate Division Judge AHM Samsuddin Chowdhury Manik to assess the liabilities of scam-tainted online marketplace Evaly.
Other members are- former secretary Mohammad Rezaul Ahsan, Chartered Accountant Fakhruddin Ahmmed and Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Khan Mohammad Shameem Aziz.
Besides, additional secretary (OSD) Mahbub Kabir will be the Managing Director (MD).
The HC bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order on Monday (October 18).
Earlier, Md Farhad Hossen, a disappointed client, filed a petition seeking the court’s order to close down Evaly and claimed a return by liquidation of assets.
On September 30, the High Court ordered the registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC) to submit all documents of the e-commerce site to it and also froze the sale or transfer of the company’s assets.
The court later said that it would appoint a four-member board to evaluate Evaly's liabilities, which would include a former judge, a chartered accountant, a secretary, and a lawyer.
