The technical (evaluation) committee formed by Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has proposed to hike natural gas price by Tk3.11 per cubic metre.

With this, the committee has recommended determining the gas price at Tk 12.47 per cubic metre.

Earlier, Petro Bangla proposed to increase price of gas to Tk 15.30. Currently, per cubic metre gas is being sold at Tk 9.36.

The recommendation was made at a public hearing on Monday at BIAM Auditorium in the capital in terms of proposals of hiking prices by the gas distribution companies.    

The occasion was attended by BERC Chairman Md Abdul Jalil, member Makbul E Elahi, Bazlur Rahman, and Mohammad Abu Faruk.

In addition, high officials of Petro Bangla and invited guests attended the event.
