SM Abdul Wadud has been promoted to the rank of General Manager of the Janata Bank Limited, a leading state-owned commercial bank of Bangladesh.

He took over as General Manager of the bank at its head office located at Janata Bhaban in the capital. Earlier, he was DGM of the bank.

Joining as senior officer of Janata Bank in 1993, Abdul Wadud was manager of the Dilkusha branch and head of Faridpur zone.

Besides, he discharged responsibilities with much reputation at Industrial Credit Department, SME Department, Overseas Banking Department, and Board Secretariat.   

SM Abdul Wadud obtained his Honours and Masters in Finance from Dhaka University. He sat for the SSC examinations under commerce group in 1982 and stood in Jashore Board. He completed a diploma in banking and attended various trainings and workshops at home and abroad.

He hails from a reputed Muslim family of Dumuria thana under Khulna.
