DHAKA: Four ministers attended Muharrat (opening ceremony) of film ‘Gangchil’ held in city’s Dhaka Club on Wednesday (September 19).

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, State Minister for Post and Telecommunication Tarana Halim, and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader graced the event.

‘Gangchil,’ a novel written by Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, has been adapted into film by the director Nayeem Imtiaj Neyamul.

Film stars Ferdous Ahmed and Purnima will act in ‘Gangchil.’

Actress Dilara Hanif Purnima remembers late iconic hero Salman Shah on his 47th birth anniversary.

Purnima recalls, “I first saw him at close quarters when I used to work as a child actress. He came to my shooting set at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). He greeted me with his hands. I had a euphoric sense of feeling after seeing him at that moment. I was so fascinated. He passed away the very next year. I came to BFDC as a heroine 2 years later.”

Purnima recalled these sweet memories during Muharrat (opening ceremony) of her new film ‘Gangchil’ at Dhaka Club in city

“It would be very much to my advantage if Salman Shah was there among us. I would even get a chance to work with him,” she added.

Shahriar Chowdhury Emon, popularly known as Salman Shah, was born on September 19 of 1971 and passed away on September 6 of 1996.

Salman Shah made his debut film in ‘Keyamat Thekey Keyamat.’ He entered into the Bangladesh film industry and changed the stereotype of a Bangladeshi hero incorporating new fashion, styles.
