Shefali Jariwala, popularly known as the “Kanta Laga Girl” after her breakout appearance in the early 2000s music video, has died at the age of 42.

She reportedly passed away around 11:30 pm on June 27 before being admitted to Bellevue Multi-Speciality Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai.

While the cause of death has not been officially confirmed, local media reports suggest she may have suffered a cardiac arrest.

Jariwala rose to overnight fame with the 2002 hit remix Kanta Laga, becoming a pop culture icon of the Indi-pop era.

She later appeared in the 2004 Bollywood film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan.

She also participated in reality TV shows including Bigg Boss 13 and the dance competition Nach Baliye, the latter alongside her husband, actor Parag Tyagi.

Jariwala was previously married to Harmeet Singh of the music duo Meet Bros in 2004. The couple divorced in 2009, and Shefali later married Tyagi in 2015. Allegations of domestic violence surfaced during her first marriage, drawing media attention at the time.

Parag Tyagi, a television actor known for his role in Zee TV’s Pavitra Rishta, is originally from Modinagar in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Born on December 15, 1982, in Mumbai, Shefali Jariwala held a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute in Gujarat.

Her sudden passing has sparked an outpouring of grief and tributes on social media, particularly under her final Instagram post, where fans and fellow celebrities have expressed shock and condolences.
