Bangladesh has recorded four more dengue-related deaths in the past 24 hours, while 758 patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide, according to a Health Directorate bulletin issued on Wednesday (Oct 14).
The update was released by the Directorate General of Health Services’ Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room.
Of the new admissions, hospitals outside the city corporations reported: Barishal Division 133, Chattogram Division 85, Dhaka Division 158, Khulna Division 62, Mymensingh Division 50, Rajshahi Division 47, Rangpur Division 19 and Sylhet Division 2.
Within the capital, Dhaka North City Corporation admitted 102 patients and Dhaka South City Corporation 100. The official English spellings “Barishal” and “Chattogram” are used in line with the Government of Bangladesh’s toponymic guidance, and the city-corporation names follow their respective authorities’ usage.
In the same 24-hour period, 764 dengue patients were discharged. Since the start of this year, 54,118 patients have left hospitals after treatment.
As of Tuesday (Oct 15), Bangladesh has recorded 57,015 dengue cases this year; males account for 61.2 percent of cases, and females account for 38.8 percent. The death toll for 2025 has risen to 242 following the latest four fatalities.
For context, Bangladesh registered 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths between January 1 and December 31, 2024. In 2023, there were 321,179 hospitalisations and 1,705 deaths.
