SYLHET: The intern doctors of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital (SOMCH) withdrew strike with a three day’s ultimatum after discussion with the medical college administration Saturday noon.

The intern doctors went on strike since Saturday morning, protesting college authority’s sluggishness to react over outsiders’ attempt to enter a female dormitory.

Later at noon, the interns withdrew the strike as the deputy director (admin) of SOMCH Abdus Salam assured them about lighting the campus and deploying police here.

Hospital sources said a group of people tried to attack female intern doctors storming into their dormitory Friday night.

On Saturday, the interns demanded to the authorities concerned to take administrative actions in this regard. The intern doctors started observing strike at 9:00am as no step was taken.

Several intern doctors told banglanews that attempt of such attacks had also been carried out for several times earlier.

Outsiders often enter the dormitory and stole valuables there.
