India reported 50,407 fresh Covid cases in in the last 24 hours, 13% lower than yesterday. The daily positivity rate dropped marginally to 3.48 per cent.

India's active caseload currently stands at 6,10,443. Active cases are 1.43% of the total Covid infections in the country. After a surge of infections in January led by the new Covid variant Omicron, cases are on a decline in most states in India.

The daily positivity rate dropped marginally to 3.48 per cent. India's weekly positivity rate is at 5.07 per cent.

India reported 804 deaths in the last 24 hours. This included a backlog of 251 deaths in Kerala.

The recovery rate is currently at 97.37%. There were 1,36,962 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

Delhi reported 977 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday, the lowest since December 29, and 12 more deaths while the positivity rate dropped to 1.73 per cent. With this, the national capital's case count increased to 18,49,596 and the death count climbed to 26,047.

India conducted 14,50,532 Covid tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

The efficacy of third doses of the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines wanes substantially by the fourth month after administration, a new study by the US Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said Friday.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Friday that all COVID-19 curbs, barring night curfew, were being lifted across the state due to the fall in cases.

With active COVID-19 cases below 1,000 in Gautam Buddh Nagar, the district administration announced relaxation in some curbs such as reducing night curfew hours and reopening of gyms and swimming pools.

Under its national vaccination drive, India has administered 172.29 crore vaccine doses so far.
