DHAKA: The government has given approval the draft of the ‘Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust-2013’.

The approval came from a regular meeting of the cabinet held at Secretariet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

After the meeting, cabinet secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan briefed journalist about the decision.

The cabinet secretary said, “As per the approval, Tk 1 crore and 10 lakh has been given allocation for the trust and different funds were initiated for ailing, injured deprived journalists.”

He slso told the journalists: “The trust will provide financial supports to deceased journalist’s family and scholarships would be available for journalists and their children.”
