BAGERHAT: A Bagerhat court on Tuesday awarded death penalty to a person for killing his two daughters in Chitalmari upazila of the district.

The convict is Shah Alam Kazi, 35, son of Zinnat Ali Kazi.

District Session Judge SM Solaiman passed the verdict.

The case statement reads: On August 27, 2012, Shah Alam went to visit his father-in-law’s house and demanded Tk 3 lakh as dowry. But his father-in-law refused to give the money.

As a result, Shah Alam became angry and killed his two kid daughters in a ditch.

Later, his wife Zerin Aktar Lopa filed a murder case with Chitalmari Thana in this connection.
