DHAKA: Some 20 journalists of different print, electronic and online media have been awarded for their outstanding contribution in specialized field of journalism.

The Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) and Grameen Phone arranged the award giving ceremony titled ‘DRU-GP Award’ in a city hotel on Tuesday afternoon.

Speaker of the national parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury handed over the award as chief guest.

The journalists were nominated from online, print and electronic media sectors in 20 categories.

Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University AAMS Arefin Siddique, Grameen Phone head of corporate Syed Tahmid Azizul Haque, Bangladesh Federal Journalist Union President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul and DRU president Kazi Shahed Chowdhury also attended the ceremony.
