DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday sent a National University teacher to jail rejecting his bail plea for posting derogatory remarks to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family on facebook status.

The accused teacher is AKM Obiduzzaman, Geography Department of National University.

Metropolitan Magistrate Tarek Moinul Islam Bhuiyan passed the order after hearing on a bail plea at around 12.00pm.

Earlier in the morning, the teacher surrendered before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court and sought bail.

Earlier on October 8, Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddiki field a defamation case against Ohiduzzaman for his insulating status to Prime Minister and her family through social network site facebook.
