FROM JATIYA SANGSAD: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday categorically said the second Padma Bridge would be built in time and the government has already taken initiatives in this regard.
The premier, also ruling Awami League president, came up with the disclosure while addressing the parliament in response to question of Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP (Laxmipur-1).
Mentioning that the bridge will be built based on Public-Private Partnership (PPP), she told the House: “China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCCLtd) has expressed their interest in building the bridge.”
Sheikh Hasina also said, “The work of Padma Bridge is progressing for building by the government own finance.”
According to the feasibility study in 2005, the expenditure to build the 6.10-KM long Padma Bridge will be around Tk 13123.38 crore.
