FROM JATIYA SANSAD: Election Commission (EC) Secretariat (Amendment) Bill-2013 was passed in the Parliament keeping the provision the EC can appoint manpower according to its necessity.

The bill was passed by a voice vote in the parliament with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

From now on, Election Commission (EC) itself will be able to appoint necessary manpower for holding polls.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed placed the bill before the parliament on Wednesday.

Later, another bill under the title Rural Electrification Board Bill-2013 was also passed in the parliament.
