Polls under Hasina’s interim govt

FROM JATIYA SANSAD: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of ruling Awami League, on Wednesday said the next general polls would be held in line with the constitution.

“The incumbent government led by me is promised to continue democracy and development in the country. So, the polls will be held as per the constitution,” she said.

The premier came up with the assertion while addressing the parliament in response to a written question of Shamsul Haque Chowdhury MP of Chittagong-11.

Sheikh Hasina also told the House: “I strongly believe that the next general elections with the participation of all the parties will be a free and fair.”

She expressed her hope of being re-elected by the people for the development activities performed by Awami League government.

She also claimed that the incumbent government was successful in developing relationship with other countries, including the neighbours.
