DHAKA: A fire broke out at 18-storey Dhilkusha center in Dilkusha area of Motijheel in the capital on Tuesday morning.
The fire originated from electric short circuit at seventh floor of the building at around 11:10am, said fire service sources.
On information, five fire fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after one hour frantic effort.
Many people were trapped in the building, said Popular Life Insurance in-charge Nuruzzaman, who come out from the building.
Fire service acting director general Major Ziatur Rahman said many remained trapped in the building but fire fighters are rescuing them safely. None was reportedly injured.
