Two Rohingya youths shot dead in Cox’s Bazar

Two Rohingya youths were killed during a gunfight between two armed groups at Ukhiya camp in Cox’s Bazar on early Friday (September 15).

The deceased are Shamsu Alam ,23, son of Abdul Hamid of Camp No. 7 and Nur Mohammad ,17, son of Salim of D-4 block of Camp-2/E.

The incident took place at about 4:30pm in Ukhiya’s Palang Khali Camp-6.

Sheikh Mohammad Ali, officer-in-charge of Ukhiya police station confirmed the matter.

He said police suspected that the crime may have happened to establish supremacy in the refugee camp.

Members of law enforcement agencies are working to arrest those involved in the murder, added the OC.

The bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he said.
