Mother, daughter killed as truck hits auto-rickshaw in Bogura 

A woman and her daughter were killed when a truck struck a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Bogura’s Kahaloo upazila on Monday night, local police confirmed.

The accident occurred around 9:30pm near the Dargahat Bazar area on the Bogura-Naogaon regional highway.

The deceased were identified as Aynun Nahar Asha, 37, and her six-year-old daughter Arat, residents of Indoil village in Adamdighi upazila. 

According to Kahaloo Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Nitai Chandra Sarker, the two were en route to Adamdighi in an auto-rickshaw when a truck rammed the vehicle in front of the Bhandar Factory area, leaving Asha dead on the spot.

Fire service officials rushed to the scene and transported the critically injured Arat and the auto-rickshaw driver to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where doctors later declared the child dead. The driver is currently undergoing treatment.

Police say efforts are underway to identify and trace the truck involved in the incident. 

Legal action will be taken accordingly, OC Sarker added, noting that the bodies of the victims are in police custody.
