Tight security around secretariat

DHAKA: Security measures have been beefed up surrounding the secretariat area on Thursday, the third day of 72-hour nationwide blockade called by 18-party alliance.

The movement of transports has been restricted through the roads in GPO Intersection, Paltan, beside the Jatiya Press Club by putting barricade from 8:00pm Wednesday.

Regarding the matter, Shahbagh thana officer-in-charge Sirajul Islam told banglanews that the barricade was set up to beef up the security of secretariat due to blockade.

The Shahbagh-bound vehicles from Jatrabari-Motijheel-Gulistan were advised to ply using Bijoynagar-Kakrail.

The restriction will be continued during the hartal-blockade, he added.

Besides, additional law enforcers along with members of Border Guard Bangladesh were seen patrolling roads around the secretariat.
