The High Commission for Pakistan in Dhaka on Monday observed “Youm-e-Istehsal” (Exploitation Day) to express solidarity with the people of Indian part of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), marking the sixth anniversary of India’s unilateral actions in the region on August 5, 2019.
The event was attended by members of the Pakistani community in Bangladesh and representatives of the local media.
Messages from Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammed Ishaq Dar were read out during the programme.
The programme featured video documentaries highlighting what organisers described as continuing Indian brutality in Jammu & Kashmir, along with the reported success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. A photographic exhibition depicting the Kashmiri people's resistance was also held on the sidelines.
Charge d’Affaires (a.i.) Muhammad Wasif, in his remarks, provided an overview of the human rights situation in the region, alleging severe abuses by Indian security forces.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to persistently raise the Kashmir dispute in international forums until the restoration of what he termed the Kashmiri people's inalienable right to self-determination in line with UN resolutions.
