Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal will address the nation tomorrow (November 15) evening.

EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam said this in response to a question from journalists in the election building today.

He said schedule of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections will be announced soon as the polls must be held before January 29.

When asked will Donald Lu’s letter to the main political parties have any impact on the schedule announcement, he said no. There will be no effect.

Earlier on November 9, the CEC held a meeting with President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban and shared the president about the Election Commission’s preparation ahead of the 12th parliamentary election.

The CEC is scheduled to sit for a meeting with other commissioners around 5pm on Wednesday and later, he may announce the schedule for the upcoming general election during his address to the nation, according to source.
