A sudden fire broke out in the cargo zone of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at about 2:15 pm on Saturday (Oct 18), officials said.

Airport Fire Section units, the Bangladesh Air Force fire unit and other relevant agencies reached the scene quickly and launched a joint operation to bring the blaze under control.

Civil aviation authorities said all flight operations remain normal. Passengers and staff have been urged to stay safe and heed instructions. 

A detailed report will be provided after the operation concludes, officials added.
