Two youths were killed when their motorbike was hit by a passengers' bus in Kanchrapara Bottola area on Puthiya-Taherpur road under Puthiya Upazila in the district this morning.

According to police the deceased were identified as Muhammad Hossain, 25, son of Akkas Ali, and his nephew Sayeed Sarwar, 22, son of Zeker Ali, both of Tentulia village under the same upazila.
 
Saidur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Puthiya Police Station, confirmed the matter.

He said the two youths were heading towards Taherpur from Puthiya riding on a motorbike. On the way, their motorbike collided head-on with the bus coming from opposite direction around 10.30 am causing their death on the spot.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to the morgue of Rajshahi Medical College for autopsy, he said.

The OC said the driver and helper of the bus fled away, leaving behind the bus just after the accident.
