The United States is keen to strengthen commercial ties with Bangladesh, aiming to increase investments in various areas, including in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector.

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak told reporters after emerging from a meeting held with US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas at his ministry office in Dhaka on Tuesday.

"The United States is committed to supporting the realisation of our Vision 2041, particularly in the ICT sector. We currently export software to the US market, and there is a mutual desire to expand and enhance this collaboration further," Palak said.

During the meeting both sides also discussed the potential of enhancing cooperation in ICT-related institutes and cyber securities in the two countries, said the junior minister.

Meeting with a cabinet member of the new government signifies the positive state of bilateral relations between the two countries, indicating a potential for further expansion in the future, said Palak.

The commercial relations between the two countries will be better in the future, in that case, the government is not thinking about the trade sanction from the United States, he said.
