Bashundhara Group, the country’s largest industrial conglomerate, has handed out blankets among newspaper hawkers in order to help them cope with the bitter cold.

The conglomerate, which is involved in various charity work throughout the year, distributes blankets every winter on the instruction of its Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan.

Leaders of various newspaper hawker associations received the blankets on behalf of their members at a programme on the premises of East West Media Group Limited (EWMGL) at Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital on Wednesday.

Noted litterateur and Kaler Kantho Editor-in-Chief Imdadul Haq Milan, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Daily Sun Editor Md Rezaul Karim were present on behalf of the media outlets under the EWMGL.
Dhaka Newspaper Hawkers' Multipurpose Cooperative Associations Chairman Mohammad Abdul Mannan and Secretary Jahangir Alam were also present on the occasion.

General Secretary of Newspaper Hawkers Kalyan Bahumukhi Samobay Samity Md Shahabuddin, City Supervisor Rustam Ali, Bahumukhi Samobay Samity Supervisors Bulu, Arif, Masud and Hossain Mollah and Bit Shramik Union leader Riaz Mamun were present on the occasion.
